The goal of this assignment is to continue practicing the fundamentals of color theory in art. In addition you will also be practicing and building your painting skills.
For this project you will be using what we learned about color theory. You will paint the subject of your choice, BUT you must follow these guidelines:
Try to use only combinations of 2 complementary colors + white. This doesn't mean you can't have other colors, remember you were able to get a wide range of colors on the complementary color assignment, you should be getting all your other colors by mixing complements.
You can't use black paint! Your pallete should start with only primary colors and white.
The subject of your painting is your choice.
You can also choose to follow the video and paint a skull!
You'll be using a 11"x14" piece of poster board for this painting.
You have 4 full classes to plan, draw, and paint your subject.
How do you paint with only complementary colors? You choose a dominant color, and mix your complementary for the shadows.
In the image on the left the darker oranges are made by mixing different hues (colors) of blue with the orange.
Try painting a skull using only blue, orange, and white!
